ABOUT MICHELLE

Hello, I’m Miche Corbin, a Counsellor and Relationship Therapist supporting adults, couples, young people (13+), and families across Birmingham, throughout the UK, and internationally through online therapy.
I believe therapy offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and better understand ourselves. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward. Others arrive carrying the impact of difficult relationships, significant life events, loss, trauma, anxiety, or challenges that have been present for many years.
My role is to provide a warm, reflective, and collaborative space where you can explore your experiences without judgment, deepen your self-understanding, and strengthen your relationship with yourself and others.
Whether you are seeking support for your emotional wellbeing, relationships, family dynamics, self-esteem, life transitions, or personal growth, therapy can offer a space to make sense of what feels difficult and move forward with greater awareness and intention.

HOW I WORK
My work is informed by attachment theory and an understanding of how our early experiences can shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. I am interested in the patterns that develop over time and how these patterns may continue to influence relationships, emotional wellbeing, self-esteem, and coping strategies today.
I work in a trauma-informed way, recognising that experiences such as loss, neglect, family conflict, domestic abuse, relationship difficulties, discrimination, or significant life events can have a lasting impact. Therapy offers a space to explore these experiences safely, at your own pace, and with compassion.
At the heart of my practice is a person-centred philosophy. I believe each person is the expert on their own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as we explore your experiences, deepen understanding, and identify what meaningful change looks like for you.
As an integrative therapist, I draw upon a range of approaches including attachment-informed practice, psychodynamic thinking, relationship psychotherapy, mindfulness, and creative therapeutic techniques. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, I tailor my work to the unique needs of the individual, couple, young person, or family sitting in front of me.
MY EXPERIENCE
Alongside my private practice, I have spent more than 15 years working within social care and therapeutic services, supporting children, young people, adults, couples, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational, and psychological challenges.
My professional background includes extensive work with individuals and families affected by trauma, loss, separation, family conflict, domestic abuse, attachment difficulties, neurodiversity, and significant life transitions.
I have also worked as a Specialist Mental Health Mentor, supporting college and university students experiencing challenges including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, emotional regulation difficulties, low self-esteem, and the impact of trauma.
Part of my work has involved supporting parents and children to strengthen and repair relationships affected by trauma, separation, conflict, loss, and disruptions in attachment. My practice is informed by attachment theory and DDP principles, recognising the importance of safety, connection, curiosity, and empathy in supporting emotional growth and healthier relationships.

MY VALUES
Compassion: Change begins when we can meet ourselves with understanding rather than criticism.
Curiosity: Healing often starts when we become curious about our experiences rather than judging them.
Authenticity: I aim to create a genuine therapeutic relationship where you can show up as yourself.
Collaboration: Therapy is not something that is done to you. We work together to explore, understand, and create meaningful change.
Insight: Greater self-awareness can help us understand ourselves, our relationships, and our choices more clearly.
Growth: While we cannot always change what has happened to us, we can develop greater awareness, understanding, and choice in how we move forward.
